The NMUN conference, taking place in New York on an annual basis, is one of the biggest simulations of the United Nations and its activities. Delegations of students slip into the role of diplomats, representing the interests of a country that has been assigned to them beforehand.

This year, the Chemnitz University of Technology´s delegation will represent the Central African Republic. Since October 2016 the students prepared themselves through weekly meetings for their task. This is the University´s 14th delegation to the NMUN and it is organized by the chair for International Politics.

It seems noteworthy that the delegation´s participants come from different disciplines, highlighting the fact that there are career opportunities for all kind of experts within the area of international cooperation.

Dr. Stefan Friedrich, director of KAS New York, explained the office´s mission and discussed other relevant questions with the delegation.

During their visit to Washington D.C. and New York the students also met representatives of the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN, the World Bank, selected experts and members of KAS Washington and KAS New York.
