Asian Women Parliamentarian Caucus Meeting 2023

“Inclusivity & Diversity in Gender Equality in Parliaments in Asia”

In lieu of continuing the discussions on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 of Gender Equality, this years Asian Women Parliamentarian Caucus Meeting was held in Colombo in partnership with the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

CTeC Asia 2023

Communication | Technology | Citizenship

CTeC Asia has brought together scholars, media professionals, civil society practitioners as well as policymakers to participate in the discussion on the impact of technologies towards communication and citizen’s participation with a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions. The event was hosted in Taipei and has attracted more than 100 participants from around 16 countries. Diverse topics related to social media, e-governance, political campaigning have been discussed during the conference.

38th ASEAN Roundtable: ASEAN in a Fragmented Global Order

3rd Asian Summer School on Political Parties and Democracy

The 3rd Asian Summer School on Political Parties and Democracy has been successfully concluded from 14 to 20 August 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this in-person seminar, 14 young researchers, policymakers and academics from 10 different Asian countries had the opportunity to exchange their approaches and ideas on political parties and democracy in the Asian region and to present and discuss their research papers.

The 36th Asia-Pacific Roundtable (36APR) was convened by the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia from 8-10 August 2023. The APR, ISIS Malaysia’s flagship conference, is one of the premier strategic-security focused Track-Two forums in the region and KAS's support for the conference is part of a long-standing cooperation between ISIS Malaysia and the KAS Political Dialogue Asia Office.

Expert Meeting Group 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand

A group of diverse e-health experts from Asia and Germany discussed latest development of e-health sectors in Asia

On 2 June 2023, KASPDA hosted an expert meeting group and invited diverse e-health experts from Asia and Germany to join the meeting to share their insights on the latest development of e-health sector in their respective countries. This one day event highlighted the latest trends of e-health from the region and showcased some of the best practises and discussed implementation challenges in various countries in Asia.

The Kingdom of Bhutan, the only country that is carbon negative serves as a model for sustainable climate and environmental policy and cultural preservation on a global scale. With the objective of contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the region, KASPDA hosted its first physical workshop series of the KASpaces Ambassador Programme in collaboration with ICLEI South Asia in three cities in Bhutan.

KASYP 14 - 1st Training Module

Political Parties' Functions and Organizations in Democratic Societies

The commencement of KASYP training programme starts with the module on “Political Parties’ Functions and Organizations in Democratic Societies.” This module aims to provide participants with background knowledge on diverse political environments and party systems in Asia as well as communication skills and leadership training. Fellows for this cohort met in Chiang Mai, Thailand last 12 – 17 February 2023 to participate in this first module.

Roundtable Discussion on Digitalisation and Cybersecurity in Asia

with the expert delegation from the Federal Academy of Security Policy (BAKS)

On 27 Feb, KAS' Political Dialogue Asia Program hosted a roundtable discussion “Digitalization and Cybersecurity in Asia” for the delegation from the Federal Academy of Security Policy (BAKS) from Germany. The delegation, which consists of participants from private and public sectors in Germany, is currently having a two-weeks fieldtrip in Asia (Singapore and Seoul) as part of the expert course on digitalization and security policy.
