A central question of the discussion was how ASEM can remain relevant in times of rapid change and ambiguity. Thus, experts analysed the role of ASEM in facilitating global governance in the fields of disaster management as well as conflict prevention / mediation and how the forum can function as a connector of ideas. New economic approaches and the role of SMEs for the bi-regional relations were also of interest. In an additional public panel, ASEM Senior Officials and senior experts debated how Asia-Europe connectivity can be strengthened.
