Details

The KASYP is a two-year programme with two workshops a year focusing on four different themes. This coming August 2025, we will meet in-person with the fellows of KASYP batch 16 who are young politicians from 14 countries, namely Bhutan, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Maldives, Cambodia, Nepal, Timor Leste, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, North Macedonia and Thailand to undergo the training on “Election Campaigning”.

For the second module of the KASYP programme, the focus is on equipping participants with a deeper understanding of electoral campaigning—its tools, strategies, and the crucial role political parties play in offering organized and meaningful electoral choices to citizens. The module also includes the second session of the Bridging Democratic Leadership (BDL) series, which will explore the theme of “co-ownership” in democratic leadership.

Participants will explore core topics such as campaign strategies tailored to political party structures, as well as an overview of electoral systems across Asia. In addition, elective sessions may delve into relevant and timely issues including the use of social media in campaigns, freedom of speech, disinformation, campaign statistics, big data, and electoral engineering.

To strengthen their practical skills, participants will take part in an election campaign simulation and hands-on training in campaign planning. These activities are designed to help them translate theory into action, develop real-world competencies, and enhance their political messaging and outreach capabilities.

The affective domain of the programme continues with the BDL component, where participants will reflect on the concept of “co-ownership” as a key democratic value. This session encourages shared responsibility, collaborative leadership, and inclusive decision-making—critical qualities for emerging political leaders.

By the end of this module, participants are expected to produce a comprehensive election campaign plan and submit their BDL assignments. We wish the fellows of KASYP Batch 16 a meaningful, empowering, and successful training experience as they continue their leadership journey through this dynamic programme.
