On March 21, 2012, the European Public Launch of the new project “EU-Asia Dialogue - Shaping a Common Future for Europe and Asia”, which is co-funded by the European Union, took place at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Brussels. During this event, Dr. Wilhelm Hofmeister, director of the regional programme Political Dialogue Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Singapore, presented the new project. Additional speakers were Mr Thomas Wiley, European Commission Directorate-General EuropeAid Development and Cooperation, and Mr Josef Janning, Director European Policy Centre. Different from the public launch in Singapore, this event had a thematic focus as the first workshop on “Food Security” took place one day later. Thus, the launch was entitled “Food Security in Asia – Chances and Perspectives for Bi-Regional Cooperation”. It was possible to invite His Excellency Dr. Vong Sandap, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Prof. John Wong, Professorial Fellow East Asian Institute Singapore, as honored speakers on this topic. The event ended with a reception.

More than 35 people from politics, research institutes, media and the business sector participated in this event and emphasized their strong interest in this new EU-project.
