Details

Questions regarding the future of work have become a main focus of attention when discussing about technological developments.

Automation and digitization, robots, algorithms, and artificial intelligence are causing far-reaching changes with lasting social and sociopolitical implications. The technological revolution can increase productivity and growth, especially for aging societies. Machines can carry out routine tasks which allow humans to take on new, more demanding jobs. However, technological developments can also lead to massive loss of jobs and consequences for the society as a whole.

Technological development will certainly lead to rapid innovation cycles. This again will cause knowledge to become outdated faster, and even highly qualified people will no longer be able to rely on the once acquired qualification.

This workshop shall provide a platform for policy makers from Germany, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan to discuss these developments. We want to shed light on the future of work and develop concrete ideas and recommendations for action in six areas, namely future developments, framework conditions, infrastructure, education, risks, and social repercussions.
