Every year, the Rule of Law Programme looks for new partners in the Middle East and North Africa to help us reach our objectives and promote the #RuleOfLaw in the region.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Rule of Law:

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a German political foundation, closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).

With regard to European and International cooperation efforts, the KAS works for people to be able to live self-determined lives in freedom and dignity.

With more than 80 offices abroad and projects in more than 120 countries, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung makes a unique contribution to the promotion of democracy, dialogue, conflict prevention, civil society and a social market economy.

Promoting the rule of law is one of the top priorities within the work of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The Rule of Law Programme Middle East / North Africa forms one of six regional Rule of Law programmes that support the continual exchange of experience and information between representatives of governmental institutions, legal scholars and practitioners, and civil society, on a peer-to peer basis. The objective of the Rule of Law Programme Middle East / North Africa is to consolidate rule of law structures and the relevant institutional elements, such as effective constitutional courts and review procedures, to foster the separation of powers, in particular a professional, independent and efficient judiciary and to protect the fundamental rights and liberties.

 

The missions of the Regional Programme are:

- Consolidating Rule of Law structures and the relevant institutional elements, such as  effective constitutional courts and review procedures;
- Fostering the separation of powers, in particular a professional, independent and efficient judiciary, and,
- Protecting the basic rights and liberties.

To achieve this, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung works together with a multitude of local partners such as governmental institutions, political parties, think tanks, civil society associations, media, and organizations of the private sector as well as universities and scientific institutions.

The Regional Programme MENA engages in several activities for its mission and aims. These activities take among others the form of conferences, seminars, workshops, and forums for dialogue to debates or round tables. Further, it issues publications and studies and engages with policy makers.

 

The main objectives of the Regional Programme are:

Objective 1: The rule of law is an essential component of social reality.

Objective 2: The principle of separation of powers is observed.

Objective 3: Fundamental and human rights are respected.

 

How to Apply:

Proposal applications are accepted until September 30th. The proposed measure and project should fall under the general requirements and objectives of the Regional Programme. In order to apply, the applicant organization should fill in the following templates:

Project Proposal Form (found above)

Organizational Profile Form (please provide)

 

Complete applications must include the application form (Project Proposal Form) with the supported document (Organizational Profile Form) and should be sent to info.mena@kas.de latest by September 30th 2021 in order for the proposal to be considered for the following year of the application's timing. 

 

Incomplete files will unfortunately not be considered. Late applications may be kept for the following year's proposal application process.
