Believing that women’s education and political empowerment goes beyond gender equality in rights and social roles as well as in preparation for the upcoming municipal elections in 2016, the project engaged 80 women from Baalbeck in a set of training activities related to leadership, social media, women’s right, civic education and IT.

This project aimed at fostering social change and empowering 80 women in Baalbeck region to participate in the decision making process at the local level as to run for municipal elections in 2016 and institutionalize their political inclusion. It gave a real opportunity for women to become more proactively involved in the local decision-making processes. It also contributed to developing the local democratic culture by increasing local participation. The project should continue while taking into consideration the recommendations given during the closing workshop on 29.12.2015 and the needs of the women as to be able to run for municipal elections in June 2016.
