The Geneva office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Global Health Centre at the Graduate Institute of Geneva invite you to join a discussion with Jens Spahn, the German Federal Minister of Health, on Germany’s vision for the future of global health in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 has tested the limits of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and its Member States, and revealed severe weaknesses in global arrangements for addressing pandemics. The pandemic has affected countries in different ways, yet the shared global experience of the crisis opens a potential window of opportunity to lay the foundation for addressing future health crises. Germany has consistently advocated for significant reforms to the global health system, including a pandemic treaty and sustainable financing for a stronger, more independent WHO. What is the current state of debate on these and other proposals, and what is the way forward?

Join us for an in-depth conversation with Minister Jens Spahn, led by Professor Suerie Moon, and Professor Ilona Kickbusch on strengthening the global governance of pandemics. The event will take place at the Graduate Institute in Geneva and can be attended in person or online. Guests will have the opportunity to pose questions to the Minister.
