Parliamentary work is at the foundation of every well-functioning democracy, professional and independent research and services to parliamentarians have gained increasing importance over the past decades. The Rule of Law Programme Middle East / North Africa in cooperation with the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Parliament of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and backed by the General Secretariat of The Arab Parliamentary Union are organizing a conference on “Parliamentary Research Services – Strengthening the Legislature by Professional and Independent Research and Analysis” taking place in Amman - Jordan on July 2 and 3, 2019.
The Introduction of Ex-Post Constitutional Review Procedures
Developments, Challenges and Application Perspectives in Morocco
In recent years, several institutions charged with constitutional review in the countries of the MENA region have been established for the first time or reformed by the attribution of new procedures. On 13 June 2019, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East/North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer- Stiftung, in partnership with the Agence Judiciaire du Royaume du Maroc, holds an international expert meeting in Rabat, on the introduction of ex-post constitutional review procedures in the MENA region and their application perspectives in Morocco.
Mapping Constitutional Control in the MENA Region Recent Developments, Challenges and Reform Trends
The Rule of Law Programme Middle East / North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung announces the upcoming international symposium on Mapping Constitutional Control in the MENA Region, that brings together the results of a series of expert meetings that the regional Rule of Law Programme together with the Arab Association for Constitutional Law has carried out over the course of the last two years. The symposium will be held from 15th to 17th April 2019, in Beirut, Lebanon.

The New Constitutions in the Arab World: Consensus between Islam and Modernity
The new Tunisian constitution has just turned one month old: this was the occasion to organise a two-day colloquium in Tunis that analysed the new constitutions of the Arab world in a comparative perspective. Just under 170 participants followed the invitation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Research Institute for International Law, International Jurisdiction and Comparative Constitutional Law of the University of Tunis.

Wie bereits im Vorjahr fand auch 2013 die internationale Law, Justice and Development Week (LJDW) der Weltbank in Washington wieder unter Beteiligung der KAS statt. Das weltweite Rechtsstaatsprogramm der KAS stellte dabei die Arbeit der Stiftung im Bereich der Rechtsstaatsförderung anhand eines Projektbeispiels vor, bei dem es um Änderungen der mexikanischen Verfassung im Bereich der Menschenrechte geht.
Zweitägige „Beirut Konferenz“ erfolgreich durchgeführt
Unter dem Titel „ Towards an Economy Serving Mankind“ ist die zweitägige Beirut Konferenz unter der Schirmherrschaft des libanesischen Präsidenten General Michel Sleiman, am 25/26. März 2013 erstmals in der Hauptstadt des Libanon durchgeführt worden.
