Led by experienced facilitators from across the media sector, participants engaged deeply with strategies for navigating change, fostering constructive dialogue, and implementing conflict-resolution approaches that support healthier newsroom cultures. Sessions also explored gender relations within editorial teams and highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence as a core leadership competency.
As part of the programme, the cohort visited two of Kenya’s major media houses - Nation Media Group and Royal Media Services - gaining firsthand exposure to how leading newsrooms balance editorial demands, manage teams, and uphold professional standards in rapidly evolving media landscapes.
The workshop concluded with renewed commitment from participants to apply these tools in their own organisations, strengthening newsroom leadership and resilience across the region.
KAS Media Africa also joined GSMC in celebrating its 10th anniversary - marking a decade of excellence in journalism and media education. We are proud to collaborate with The Aga Khan University’s Graduate School for Media and Communications on initiatives that advance professional growth, innovation, and newsroom sustainability, and we look forward to continued partnership in the years ahead.
