This publication shows that barriers are results of the nature and the history of the conflict and contradictory interest of the parties on fundamental issues (e.g. territory and borders). They also result from differences and contradictions between identities, beliefs, historical narratives, collective memories, myths and ethoses related to the development of the conflict and the feasibility of a resolution.
