The third meeting of the Multinational Development Policy Dialogue’s series “Democratic trends in ASEAN”, organized in cooperation with KAS Indonesia, will discuss longstanding and current opportunities and challenges for providing targeted support to the Indonesian judiciary, enhancing impartiality, and advancing women’s access to the judiciary. It will also take a closer look at previous European Union (EU) efforts to improve the justice system of Indonesia through a number of projects and objectives, including training judges, corruption eradication, and improving the accountability of the judiciary and the quality of justice services. Speakers from Indonesia and the EU will elaborate on their first-hand experiences in improving the quality of justice services for all citizens. Together with a selected group of experts from different institutions, academia, think tanks, foundations and NGOs, they will discuss current obstacles and bottlenecks in delivering legal aid with a gender equality perspective. The discussion will be held under Chatham House Rule.
