#WANE - “We Are Nature Expedition”

 

☑️ Ideated and promoted by Valeria Barbi (TW: @BNaturalista - IG: @barbi_naturalista), expert on #biodiversity and #climatechange, the “WANE Expedition” is an independent #journalistic project whose aim is to investigate the relationship between the #human and #nature in 14 countries crossed by the pan American highway. #WANE stands for “We Are Nature Expedition”, but it also means “vanishing”, which is what is happening to the natural world.

☑️ #WANE is a #scientific expedition moving from tundra to temperate boreal and the tropical forest passing through the desert wetlands, glaciers, grasslands in a continuous connection between Earth and the Pacific Ocean. But also encountering ancient #cultures and #traditions from which there is much to learn and which offer us interesting fundamental best practices to replicate elsewhere to protect and conserve our Planet.

Water Voices - A Water Secure, Future for All

 

☑️ KAS MDPD and The Stimson Center were honoured to have participated in the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal.

☑️ At the German Pavillion, our representatives Mr. Denis Schrey and Ms. Farwa Aamer presented KAS-Stimson's joint project on water security and International hydrodiplomacy, sharing our impact and future ambitions with the attendees.

☑️ As a part of the presentation, we also showcased short informational videos from our experts on transboundary water governance in shared river basins. You may tune in to our “Water Voices” series to catch all the videos and follow us to receive more highlights from all the action in Dakar.

Young Voices - Perceptions on the EU’s global engagement

 

☑️ The campaign aims to critically analyse the EU's role in the world through the eyes of young people in the Global South, who are engaged in their communities through EU programmes or with the help of EU funding.

☑️ Together with worldwide KAS offices and their partners, we involved these young people from Africa, Asia, Latina America and the Middle East to share their perceptions, expectations and wishes on the EU's engagement in their countries.

☑️ The short interviews focused on specific thematic areas: political participation, democracy, freedom, security, climate and energy. Youth members were asked to answer two difficult open questions: "Has the EU engagement triggered change in your country?" and "What could the EU do differently in the future?".

☑️ The advocacy campaign "Women's Political Participation – The State of Play in Asia" promoted by MDPD KAS in Brussels and AWPC aims to raise awareness about the situation of women parliamentarians in Asia.

☑️ To this end, we invited a number of female parliamentarians from the Asian Women Parliamentarian Network to provide their perspectives explaining how they assess the state of gender equality in their country's politics, what are the main obstacles to equal representation, and what foreign actors - such as the EU - could do to support greater inclusion.
