Das im Mai 2002 von der südafrikanischen Regierung eingesetzte Electoral Task Team (ETT) unter Vorsitz von Dr. Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert hat die Aufgabe, neue Modelle des Wahlrechts für Südafrika zu diskutieren und Vorschläge zu erarbeiten. Trotz der Vorteile des derzeitigen Verhältniswahlrechts, wie Fairness, Inklusivität und Unkompliziertheit, wird erkennbar, daß demokratische Politik ein stärkeres Maß an Rechenschaftspflicht bedarf.
