The Forte International Security Conference has, over more than two decades, established itself as one of the leading dialogue platforms on security and defense between Latin America and Europe. Organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS Brazil), in partnership with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the Delegation of the European Union to Brazil (EUDEL), the conference seeks to address the major challenges to international stability from an interdisciplinary, diplomatic, and strategic perspective.
The 2026 edition acknowledges that the intersection between technology, security, and democracy has become one of the most decisive dimensions of contemporary international politics. Technological innovation is reshaping power dynamics, redefining sovereignty, and testing the limits of global governance. Within this context, the XXIII Forte Conference will explore the strategic use of technology as an instrument of power, control, and deterrence, as well as its broader implications for global security and democracy.
Debates on technology and security often narrow their focus to specific domains such as artificial intelligence or cybersecurity. This edition seeks to go beyond those boundaries by addressing the technological ecosystem, examining its geopolitical, military, economic, and institutional implications. The objective is to reaffirm the Forte Conference as a broad and forward-looking forum capable of analyzing how technological transformation influences international order, democracy, defense, and global cooperation.
