Subnational governments play an important role in the global climate agenda, being essential actors in advancing Brazilian climate governance by implementing policies to mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level. In this sense, the third meeting of the Mandatos-C: Legislative Leadership Alliance for Climate Action network in 2022 received the specialists Fernando Campos from SITAWI Finanças do Bem and Edgar Salinas from CAF - Development Bank of Latin America to talk about the opportunities and challenges in mobilizing resources at the municipal level to leverage projects with a positive environmental impact.
The guests addressed the municipal limitations of access to resources for climate action and the possibilities of action to act on the environmental agenda, understanding the local reality and taking advantage of opportunities with the Federal Government, with international funds and with organizations that work with projects to combat climate change.
The participation of Brazilian subnational governments is essential to combat the climate crisis, and it is important that municipalities know their needs and possibilities to understand the types of most effective financial instruments. You can watch the debate here.
