Economy 101

From Economic Awareness to Civic Engagement: Economy 101 Enters Its Second Year

On 5, 12, and 19 September 2026, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Jordan Office, in collaboration with KANZ Jo, held the second training of the Economy 101 project, following last year’s pilot training. The three-day programme brought together 14 university students over three consecutive weekends, combining expert input with interactive learning on Jordan’s economic landscape.

Economy 101 aims to strengthen economic literacy among young people and civil society actors in Jordan, equipping participants with a better understanding of the country’s economic structures, policies, and challenges.

The training covered the historical evolution of the Jordanian economy, key economic stakeholders and their responsibilities, current economic challenges, economic decision-making, political-economic schools of thought, and the Economic Modernisation Vision. Through case studies, role-plays, group discussions, and reflection exercises, participants connected these topics to real-world economic issues. The training also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange perspectives and engage in constructive discussions amongst each other.

Through the continued partnership, KAS and KANZ Jo seek to foster greater economic awareness and encourage informed participation in discussions on Jordan’s economic development and reform.
