The study was prepared as part of a research initiative exploring prospects for regional cooperation and electricity interconnection among the three countries. It analyses the opportunities and challenges associated with expanding electricity exchange and identifies potential pathways towards deeper regional integration in the energy sector.
The paper was developed through collaborative research and analysis by experts from the three countries: Eng. Amjad Al-Rawashdeh from Jordan, Mr. Musab Alkateeb from Iraq, and Dr. Bassam Darwish from Syria. Their contributions combine technical expertise in their respective national electricity sectors with a regional perspective on the potential for electricity interconnection and cross-border exchange.
The workshop brought together a select group of experts to examine the study’s findings and engage in discussions on the current state of electricity interconnection, prospects for its development, and the potential economic and strategic benefits of enhanced regional cooperation. Participants also explored how greater electricity exchange could contribute to improving the efficiency and resilience of energy systems across the region.
