The session brought together 65 participants, among them members of parliament, representatives of government institutions, experts, academics and civil society activists. Speakers emphasized that the rights of people with disabilities are a key indicator of a country’s progress and that inclusive legislation and effective parliamentary oversight are essential for ensuring equal opportunities and full participation in public life.
Discussions highlighted Jordan’s achievements following the Global Disability Summit and the importance of integrating rights for people with disabilities into legislative and oversight agendas. Participants also stressed the need to empower youth with disabilities and support their meaningful involvement in the decision-making process.
Key recommendations included strengthening cooperation with parliamentary committees, monitoring the implementation of disability legislation and international commitments and enhancing tools that support accountability and inclusion.
