WANA-KAS Think Tank School

Expert Session with MP Dina Al-Bashir on the role of parliament and political parties in Jordan

Following the successful completion of the initial training phase, participants of the WANA-KAS Think Tank School, implemented by the West Asia–North Africa Institute (WANA) in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) – Jordan Office, have now entered the next stage of the programme, where they will develop their own research ideas and policy-oriented outputs. As part of this phase, participants are engaging in a series of three expert sessions, alongside regular mentorship meetings. These sessions are designed to strengthen participants’ analytical thinking, policy research, and evidence-based writing skills while providing valuable opportunities for dialogue with leading practitioners and experts from diverse policy fields.

The first expert session on 4 July 2026 featured MP Dina Awni Al-Bashir, who led an engaging and insightful discussion on political life in Jordan. The conversation explored the role of political parties as key partners in the country's political, economic, and administrative modernisation processes, while highlighting the importance of strengthening collaboration between legislative institutions, think tanks, youth, and women in advancing inclusive development.

The session also provided participants with valuable insights into the legislative and oversight roles of the House of Representatives and underscored the importance of evidence-informed dialogue in fostering meaningful political participation and effective policymaking.
