Workshop

MSME Digital Bootcamp Rehoboth

Session 1

KAS in collaboration with the NIPDB, will be implementing and facilitating the second phase of Digital MSME Bootcamps in partnership with the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) at their regional based Computer-Based Learning Centres (CBLC) and affiliated teacher resource centres, in the following towns; Rehoboth, Keetmanshoop and Eenhana, with the aim to upskill at least 63 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with basic computer skills and enhance their efficiency, productivity and competitiveness in the market, as well as adoption of technological innovation. The second phase aims to to upscale at least 55% of participating MSMEs from their initial size to the next phase(s) by 2028 and further to strengthen coordination of smart partnerships and assist the NIPDB and NAMCOL in achiev-ing targeted initiatives under their priority sectors.

ECSO Project Community Engagement with civil society organisations and stakeholders

//Karas Region

The KAS and European Union co-funded ECSO project team will be in //Karas region for two community engagement events with civil society organisations and stakeholders. On 23rd April the KAS and WAD team will be hosting a community dialogue on the topic "Development in the Community: Creating income generating activities from Regional Resources". On 24 April an information session with CSOs and stakeholders will take place in an effort to build relationships in the region.

FDN Symposium: The Challenges for Namibian Democracy

Discussion Roundtable in association with the Forum of German-speaking Namibians

The Forum of German-speaking Namibians (FDN) in association with the Swakopmunder Gesprächskreis and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Namibia-Angola Country Office are hosting a one-day symposium on 13 April 2024 with the aim to exchange insights on the challenges that Namibia's Democracy faces and recommendations on the way forward. Together with four guest speakers, the discussion roundtable aims to engage around 70 invited guests.

Review of the Constituency Development Fund Bill (CDFB)

KAS is joining the Association for Regional Councils (ARC) who are convening in Mariental. The two day retreat scheduled from 09 to 10 April 2024 will discuss and review the Constituency Development Fund Bill (CDFB). More the 50 representatives from regional and local authorities are expected to attend.

From 3rd to 5th April 2024, the PDM party is discussing and developing a key strategic document, deemed pivotal for the political party's effective campaign and lobbying during a crucial election year, 2024. Technical support and expertise for the engagement will be offered by KAS.

ECSO Project Operational and Administrative Management Training

//Kharas Region

The past week 04 - 08 March 2024 the KAS and WAD team who are implementing the ECSO project hosted a training for 13 CSOs from //Karas region on Operational and Administrative Management in Keetmanshoop. The training was able to empower a total of 24 participants in a 5-day workshop aimed at strengthening the internal operational structures of their respective organisations.

Human Rights Training

The Ombudsman as a bridge for Collaboration

A three-day human rights training in collaboration with KAS, the Office of the Ombudsman and Zambezi, Kavango East and Kavango West Governor's Offices, to capacitate 60 participants ranging from regional and local authorities, the community, youth, stakeholders in the disability and service delivery sector and civil society. The training will be facilitated by selected experts from multiple sectors in Katima Mulilo, with the aim to forge a collaborative effort to increase civic education and civic responsibility in order to build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

KAS-TEP Session 4 Good Governance Training, Parliament Tour and Alumni Networking Session

Session 4

The final session for this year's KAS-TEP Programme will be hosted with selected experts on Good Governance, a Tour of Parliament by the 30 beneficiaries remaining in the programme and end off with a Certificate Handover Ceremony for the 2023 Intake, and finally the KAS-TEP Alumni Networking Session and Reunion in celebration of 5 years of the KAS-TEP Programme. Selected Alumni from across Namibia will present their testimonials and share insights into their successes and highlights in their develeopment since joining the progamme. Since inception, the KAS-TEP Programme has shaped over 70 Alumni with capacity building in the areas of emotional intelligence, leadership skills, strategic planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, proposal writing, communication skills, lobbying and advocacy, engagements with Parliament, Local and Regional Authorities, Care Givers, Publicity and last but not least, Community Resource Mobilisation skills. The beneficiaries consist of selected youth representatives of civil society and affiliated stakeholders and institutions with the aim to capacitate civil society to assist decision makers in achieving the national development goals.

This event aims to unveil the winner of the recently designed Children's Advocate Logo as part of a national competition in which schools from across Namibia participated. The event serves to launch the logo and further aims to promote the Children's "My Rights My Superpower" Campaign. To conclude, various key stakeholders of the Office of the Ombudsman have been invited to network and strengthen upcoming collaborations in regard to Children's Rights initiatives across the country.

Namibia's Energy Challenges

Energy security is one of the most important future challenges for Namibia and is closely linked to issues like economic development, poverty reduction and a stable democracy. In this context, the KAS Namibia & Angola organised a workshop on the socio-economic dimensions of climate change and renewable energies in order to explore the positive effects and development potentials offered by an improved energy security and the intensified use of renewable energies in Namibia.

Post-Election Seminar of the Members of the Fifth National Council – A Summary

From 01.-05. February 2015, the Parliamentary Support Programme (PSP), jointly funded by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and the European Union (EU), organised a post-election seminar for every member of the newly elected National Council. During the seminar the general focus lay on tasks and duties of the MPs, constitutional matters and current challenges which Namibia is facing.

An overview of Human Rights in Namibia: Where do we stand?

On the 9th of December 2015, one day before the International Human Rights Day, Forum For the Future (FFF) together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted a workshop about “An overview of Human Rights in Namibia: Where do we stand now?”. Phil ya Nangoloh, the Executive Director of NamRights, was invited as an expert to give an overview about the topic.
