On December 21, 2017, DIYAR and KAS Ramallah presented the study "Palestinian Christians: Emigration, Displacement and Diaspora". The publication builds partly on a survey among Christians and Muslims. As the first of its kind, the survey examines in detail the causes of Christian migration. The conference was broadcasted live on Palestinian television (MAAN TV).

A new approach to overcome the impasse in the Middle East

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung invited in the framework of a Study and Dialogue Program comprising Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian participants to a brunch discussion in the KAS Academy in Berlin. The delegation introduced the findings of a pre-feasibility study that analyzed the prospect of a large scale regional exchange of desalinated water from the Mediterranean coast with renewable energies from the deserts of Jordan.

The MNED of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized in the European Parliament together with the KAS Palestinian Territories and with EcoPeace Middle East the event "A water energy nexus (WEN) for the Middle East and the historic experience of the European Coal and Steel Community". The panel introduced the findings of a pre-feasibility study that analyzes the potential for large scale exchange of renewable energies from the Jordanian desert with desalinated water from the Mediterranean coast. The report summarizes the content of the study and the discussion in the European Parliament.

Marc Frings, Leiter des Auslandsbüros der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Ramallah, ist ein ausgewiesener Experte, wenn es um die gesellschaftlichen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Entwicklungen in den israelisch-palästinensischen Gebieten geht. Davon konnten sich rund 100 interessierte Teilnehmer bei der Kooperationsveranstaltung im Bielefelder Haus der Kirche selbst überzeugen.

Wachsende Unruhe in den Palästinensischen Gebieten

Und die Kritik richtet sich nicht mehr allein gegen Israel – Diskussion mit Marc Frings

Israel und die Palästinensischen Gebiete kommen nicht zur Ruhe. Zu den Gründen zählen unter anderem der innenpolitische Stillstand auf palästinensischer Seite, der fortschreitende Siedlungsbau und Energie- und Ressourcenprobleme. Die Palästinenser im Westjordanland und im Gazastreifen gehen immer mehr getrennte Wege. Über die Entwicklungen sowie die aktuelle politische und sozioökonomische Lage in den Palästinensischen Gebieten berichtete der Leiter des Auslandsbüros der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Ramallah, Marc Frings, im Rahmen des Außenpolitischen Gesprächskreises.
