Initiated by five Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) scholars from the Asian University for Women (Bangladesh) and National College (Nepal), the South Asian Youth for SDGs (SAYS) is a youth-led initiative born from a 2024 KAS study tour to Singapore “Empowering tomorrow : Learning the SGDs through Singapore's Green Initiatives". Launched officially on January 16, 2026, SAYS focuses on promoting SDGs across the regions the scholars come from (Bangladesh, India & Nepal) . Under its flagship initiative, the "Climate Smart School Project," the team actively establishes Climate Smart clubs in schools across Nepal to empower the next generation with environment and climate change knowledge.
Building on this mission, SAYS was supported by KAS to attend a specialized teacher training program titled "Environmental Education: Learning and Acting for a Better Future” at the Europass Teacher Academy in Florence from March 16-22, 2026. The team had a wonderful time learning about climate justice, fast fashion, greenwash, systems thinking etc. and other similar themes during their training in Florence. The training was very insightful and engaging. This report reflects the team’s key takeaways and outlines their strategic plan to bring innovative environmental education back to schools and students in their countries.
