Youth in Action for Climate and Sustainability

To commemorate World Environment Day 2026, South Asian Youth for SDGs (SAYS) organized a series of youth-led climate education and awareness initiatives across Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, engaging more than 100 students.

Through interactive climate education sessions, pre-session surveys, discussions on local environmental challenges, environmental quizzes, and creative poster-making competitions, students explored the causes and impacts of climate change while identifying practical actions they can take within their communities. The activities were designed to strengthen climate literacy by connecting global environmental issues with local realities, encouraging participants to become informed and responsible environmental stewards.

The celebrations also showcased youth leadership through Climate Smart Clubs, school-based environmental initiatives, community awareness rallies, and participation in a national environmental exhibition in Nepal, where students displayed their climate projects and artwork. Across all three countries, the programmes fostered collaboration between schools, educators, young people and policy makers while creating meaningful opportunities for students to apply their learning, express their ideas creatively, and inspire climate action within their schools and communities.

South Asian Youth for SDGs (SAYS) is a youth-led regional initiative founded in 2026 by five Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Scholars from the Asian University for Women (Bangladesh) and National College (Nepal).
