Speechwriters in African opposition politics carry a growing responsibility - not just to inspire, but to defend. Trust forms the foundation of democratic politics. In an era of sophisticated disinformation campaigns, foreign interference, and emerging AI-powered manipulation tactics, crafting compelling messages that are both truthful and effective has never been more complex or more urgent.
From 29 to 31 July 2025, KAS Media Africa will host the Summer School for Political Speechwriters, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Bringing together 15 speechwriters and experts from across Africa, Europe, and the United States, the event focuses on the political communication challenges of our time.
Led by international experts in journalism, cybersecurity, and campaign strategy, the workshop blends practical exercises, role-play scenarios, and peer collaboration. It offers space to think deeply about ethics, strategy, and the daily demands of writing for politicians under pressure.
