Innovation and Sustainability in Business Development (ISBD) Project 2026

The ISBD Project, organised by the Population & Community Development Association (PDA), with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Thailand, was established to enhance the capabilities of occupational groups and community enterprises and to address the many challenges that have emerged over recent decades, including natural disasters, continuing economic, social and political uncertainties, demographic changes associated with an ageing society, and the rapid advancement of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). The project also promotes collaboration among a diverse range of stakeholders, including private enterprises, academic institutions, and local administrative organisations. Such cooperation seeks to reduce risks associated with overreliance on central government policies and to maintain the continuity of community-based projects.

Building on the progress achieved in 2025, the ISBD Project will continue in 2026 with a focus on applying the principles of the Social Market Economy (SME), the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding frameworks.

This year, the project will be implemented in three phases: workshops, study visits and roundtable discussions aimed at facilitating dialogue, knowledge exchange and policy development. All activities will be conducted in seven target provinces where the CBIRD (Community Based Integrated Rural Development) Centres are located:

• Mahasarakam Province – CBIRD Mahasarakam 

• Khon Kaen Province – CBIRD Ban Phai 

• Nakhon Ratchasima Province – CBIRD Chakkarat 

• Buriram Province – CBIRD Nang Rong 

• Chiang Rai Province – CBIRD Wiang Pa Pao 

• Kanchanaburi Province – CBIRD Sai Yok 

• Krabi Province – CBIRD Krabi
