The delegation engaged with senior representatives from government, Parliament, academia and civil society, including the FW de Klerk Foundation, the Southern African Institute for Race Relations, the Hope Foundation, Nelson Mandela University, and local authorities. Key themes included democratic resilience, coalition governance, provincial development strategies, public security, vocational education, and sustainable economic partnerships. Several sessions built on previous KAS engagements, including earlier work on democratic consolidation, local governance, and interprovincial cooperation.
The trip underscored the value of structured dialogue between German and South African stakeholders and highlighted opportunities for future collaboration in governance innovation, youth development, and economic transformation. A detailed report documenting key insights and policy reflections will be made available as part of KAS South Africa’s ongoing programme on democratic governance and international partnership.
