Coding Bootcamp

A digital skills bootcamp for young Lebanese

Between October 2020 and April 2021, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Lebanon Office in cooperation with the Lebanese tech-NGO Park Innovation implemented three coding bootcamps for young Lebanese from rural areas. The project targeted 17-29 years old Lebanese in Chouf, Aley and Upper Maten with no current employment and basic English language skills. The participants worked on a wide range of projects, with some of the developed apps having strong potential to go live within this year.

Navigating Entrepreneurship

A Nationwide Entrepreneurship Competition

After the great success of our first Navigating Entrepreneurship competition in 2021, Rural Entrepreneurs and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted a second round - this time on a national level. The project successfully trained and guided grade 11 and 12 students in building entrepreneurial skills and developing business ideas, helping them to tap into world of entrepreneurship. The students were expected to come up with start-up pitches that would target challenges faced personally or in their community, and which would contribute to Lebanon with a socially valuable input.

Promoting Electoral Awareness among Lebanese Citizens Especially Youth

Over the past months, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in collaboration with Advanced Democracy for Sustainable Peace (AD 4 Peace) have conducted a series of 9 training sessions with groups from students and youth of marginalized areas in Lebanon. The sessions were part of the project “Promoting Electoral Awareness among Lebanese Citizens Especially Youth” that was launched in 2020.

Beirut Debates

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its new debate forum "Beirut Debates". The series aims to provide a platform for debates between representatives from politics, the private sector, academics, activists and civil society. The exchanges will bring together different viewpoints and provide a space to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing Lebanon and the wider region. Famous in the Middle East for its liberal approach to diversity and free exchange of views, Beirut is a hub of intellectual debate in a region where critical voices struggle to have their voices heard. The first event in this series took place on the 29th of October and revolved around the title "Rethinking Foreign Aid for Lebanon: A Reflection on Lessons Learned, Accountability and Responsibility".

Co-Working offices and post-crisis support for affected freelancers and entrepreneurs

On August 4th, 2020 a catastrophic explosion hit our beloved country Lebanon, gravely damaging Beirut and its surrounding neighborhoods. The massive explosion caused extensive suffering to the people of the city, tremendous damage to its physical and cultural fabric, and dealt a severe blow to multiple economic sectors, hitting the heart of entrepreneurship, freelancers and digital districts. Over 100,000 businesses were closed and thousands of freelancers lost their laptops and office equipment.
