The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Thailand Office and Isra News Agency are partnering to implement the project “Capacity Building for Young Journalists on Effective and Responsible Media Roles in Democratic Participation in the Policy Process.”
The project builds on previous cooperation between KAS Thailand and Isra News Agency from 2022 to 2025, during which 96 in-depth news articles were published on issues including good governance, justice reform, public policy, citizen participation, and environmental challenges.
The project consists of two activities designed to strengthen the capacity of young journalists and support their contribution to informed public discourse and democratic participation.
The first activity will focus on strengthening the professional capacity of young journalists through a dedicated training programme for 20 young professional journalists.
The training will cover both journalistic skills, including issue identification methods and documentary research, as well as content-focused topics, including fundamental concepts related to good governance, public policy, the rule of law, and environmental issues. The objective of the training is to enhance participants’ professional competencies and subject-matter expertise, thereby enabling them to contribute more effectively to public discourse on these issues.
In the second activity, the 20 participating journalists will have the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills through a practical investigative journalism assignment. Each participant will produce one investigative news article. Participants will receive hands-on mentoring and editorial guidance to support the development of their articles and encourage high-quality, responsible reporting.
