On 23-24 August, the Isra News Agency, in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Thailand Office, organised a hands-on training under the project “Capacity Building for Young Journalists on Effective and Responsible Media Roles in Democratic Participation in the Policy Process” for 20 young professional journalists.
The training covered the practical side of journalism, from identifying news angles and working with different sources to understanding issues around good governance, public policy, the rule of law and the environment through discussions and exchanges with experienced speakers, as well as among the young journalists themselves, whose reporting focuses and experiences vary across different media outlets. The training then gave participants an opportunity to put what they had learned into practice by developing their own news ideas and presenting their proposed topics and reporting strategies to the speakers and advisory team.
After this training, participants will continue to receive hands-on mentoring and editorial guidance from experienced editors from different news agencies, providing opportunities to learn different editorial approaches and techniques. This ongoing support will help them develop their articles while encouraging high-quality and responsible reporting.
The articles, supported by KAS Thailand, will subsequently be published on the KAS website, Isra website and social media channels, as well as through the media outlets of the participating journalists.
