In 2023–2025, the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) implemented the project “OpenGov for Citizen” which aimed at providing space for local citizens to discuss and exchange directly with the related government offices, state agencies, and also organizations under central and local governments’ supervision on the issues that are relevant to their areas/districts/provinces and in urgent need of government actions or measures.
Building on the success of the “OpenGov for Citizen” initiative in the past years, the OPDC is now expanding its efforts to open more spaces for public and multi-sectoral participation on a wider range of issues, with the expectation of fruitful cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Thailand Office again in this year. Therefore, in 2026, the OPDC will organise the 5th OpenGov for Citizen activity series under the topic “Share the Vision, Shape the Future @Bang Kachao.” The activities will take place in Samut Prakan Province.
The main workshops will be divided into two times. The workshop will focus on brainstorming solutions to urgent challenges facing the Bang Kachao area in Samut Prakan Province, as well as developing skills in using government online platforms for expressing opinions and suggesting measures or policies. The initiative supports Thailand's National Action Plan under the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and aims to ensure that citizens’ voices are meaningfully integrated into provincial development planning, leading to more responsive governance, stronger public trust, and continued improvement in Thailand’s E-Participation Index (EPI).
