Public Debate 'The impact of reducing UNRWA services to Palestinian refugees'

Reform will hold another public debate as part of the project “Rooftop Debate – Drivers of Political Change”. The project aims to create a network of powerful social and political young leaders and capacitate them with the skills that enable them to lobby for enhancing the participation of youth in decision-making processes and to shed light on the sickness of the democratic process and its impact on their citizenship and their relationship with the governing institution. In order to do so, this project worked to provide youth with safe spaces and interactive platforms to be able to voice out their needs and concerns and engage in formulating public policies that are more responsive to their social and political needs.

Within the framework of the project “Rooftop Debate – Drivers of Political Change”, Reform will broadcats 20 radio episodes through the station 'Raya FM' surrounding youth political participation and topics in Palestinian society. Topics include: 'The impact of the democratic movement in unions and universities on youth participation in political and social life', 'Policy Directions of the National Council and the executive committee in light of the changes onThe Palestinian cause' and (1&2) 'Social Security Law and its responsiveness to the needs of workers'

Within the context of the project 'The Rooftop Debate – Drivers of Political Change', established in cooperation with our partner Reform, a group of young people drafts 7 policy papers. Amongst others, following issues are being adressed: 1. The role of the student movements in raising political awareness. 2. Political Participation of Palestinian Youth/ student movements as a model. 3. Political Participation of Palestinian Youth: Problems and Challenges. 4. Changes in the Political Role of Palestinian Youth upon the Oslo Accords.
