📍On June 21, 2023, the KAS Multinational Development Policy Dialogue Brussels (KAS MDPD) and the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) organized a panel discussion at EIAS focusing on the situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban Takeover and the consequences of those developments for Europe and the region.
📍The panel was moderated by EIAS Director Lin Goethals and featured distinguished experts from the EU and Afghanistan: Dr. Ellinor Zeino, Member of the German Bundestag Study Commission on Afghanistan and Director of the KAS Regional Programme for Southwest Asia, Sulaiman Bin Shah, Founder and CEO of Catalysts Afghanistan and former Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan as well as Deren Derya, Head of Division for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the European External Action Service (EEAS). The panelists discussed highly actual topics such as the current situation in Afghanistan, the state of the Afghan economy, humanitarian aid and financial assistance to the country and prospects for future cooperation and development.
