This event was held as part of a research project examining the linkages between great power competition and governance dynamics at the local level across various regions of Thailand. The study draws on the area-based expertise of a research team composed of international relations scholars from universities across the country, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Narut Jaroensri from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University.
The research highlights the importance of integrating governance dimensions and local contexts into a broader understanding of international relations and foreign policy. Upon completion of the project, the research team, in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Thailand Office, published the findings in book form to disseminate key insights and analytical perspectives, with the aim of fostering further academic discussion and development.
