Ghanas Parlament verabschiedet Anti-LGBTQ+ Gesetz

Nach mehr als 2½ Jahren Beratung hat Ghanas Parlament für ein neues Anti-LGBTQ+ Gesetz gestimmt und damit die Lage für Homosexuelle und sexuelle Minderheiten dramatisch verschärft.

Am 31. Januar 2021 eröffneten Anhänger der LGBTQ+ Gemeinschaft in Ghanas Hauptstadt Accra ein Büro. Das Büro sollte sowohl Treffpunkt als auch Rückzugsort sein. Die mit medialem Aufwand und auch von einigen ausländischen Botschaftern begleitete Eröffnung erregte in der Gesellschaft Ghanas schnell große Aufmerksamkeit. Die darauffolgende heftige Kritik führte nicht nur zur schnellen Schließung des Zentrums, sondern auch zur Einbringung eines radikalen Anti-LGBTQ+ Gesetzentwurfs in das Parlament. Unterzeichnet war er von acht Abgeordneten: sieben von der oppositionellen NDC (National Democratic Congress) und einem von der regierenden NPP (National Patriotic Party). Als Initiator und wichtigster Betreiber des Gesetzentwurfs gilt Hon. Samuel Nartey George (NDC), der vor seiner Wahl zum Abgeordneten zum engeren Beraterkreis des früheren Präsidenten John Mahama gehörte. Er klassifiziert Homosexualität als „Perversion“, die hart bestraft werden müsse.
