Knapp drei Jahre nach dem Brexit-Votum besteht Klarheit: Der bisherige Kurs der britischen Regierung ist an sein Ende gekommen. Eine Verabschiedung des ausverhandelten Austrittsabkommens ist unter den aktuellen Voraussetzungen nicht möglich. Während die britische Premierministerin Theresa May mit der Opposition verhandelt, stimmt die EU einer weiteren Verlängerung zu. Neuer Austrittstermin ist der 31. Oktober 2019. Ein früherer Austritt bleibt möglich, wenn das Vereinigte Königreich das Austrittsabkommen ratifiziert. Da dies nicht absehbar ist, wird das Vereinigte Königreich wohl an der Europawahl teilnehmen. Ein Überblick über die Entwicklungen bis zur Sondersitzung des Europäischen Rates am 10. April 2019.

Finnische Parlamentswahlen mit erwartet schwierigem Ausgang

Parlamentswahlen in Finnland

Am Sonntag, 14. April 2019, hat Finnland ein neues Parlament gewählt. Als knapper Wahlsieger ging die Sozialdemokratische Partei Finnlands (SDP) mit ihrem Vorsitzenden Antti Rinne hervor. Trotz Wahlerfolg der populistischen Partei „Die Finnen“ (PS), gab es – insgesamt betrachtet – einen leichten Linksruck. Einer der größten Wahlsieger war „Der Grüne Bund“. Die Zentrumspartei (Keskusta) mit dem zuletzt nur noch kommissarischen Ministerpräsidenten Juha Sipilä verlor deutlich. Die Wahlbeteiligung lag diesmal bei 72% (3.078,492 Stimmen) und erreichte damit fast den Rekord von 72,1% aus dem Jahr 1991. In den vorherigen Parlamentswahlen 2015 gingen 70,1% der Wahlberechtigten zur Wahl. Die hohe Wahlbeteiligung wurde auch durch die neu eingeführte Briefwahl begünstigt. Bei den Vorwahlen haben bereits über 1,5 Milionen und somit 36,1% der Wahlberechtigten ihre Stimme abgegeben (2015 waren es noch 32,3%). Somit wurden erstmals mehr Stimmen während der Vorwahl abgegeben als am eigentlichen Wahltag (35,9%).
