In Burkina Faso im Zentrum des Sahelraumes hat das Militär nach einer Welle von Attacken von dschihadistischen Gruppen und Massenprotesten die Macht übernommen und den gewählten Präsidenten Roch Marc Christian Kaboré abgesetzt. Es brodelte schon länger innerhalb der Streitkräfte, die ohnmächtig den Zerfall des Staates und den Vormarsch von Dschihadisten beobachteten. Unklar bleibt, ob die Offiziere sich halten und das Land befrieden können. Dessen zunehmende Instabilität greift inzwischen auch verstärkt auf Küstenländer Westafrikas über.
