With the support of KAS RECAP, Eco-Business will publish a series of research papers on biodiversity. The policy briefs will explore finance for biodiversity, the value of biodiversity in Asia’s megacities and biodiversity and the ocean.

Die Dumawahlen sind vorbei. Stärkste Partei wurde das Einige Russland, es verliert jedoch im Vergleich zu den Wahlen im Jahr 2016 an Prozentpunkten. Eigentliche Gewinner der Dumawahlen sind die Kommunisten. Sie konnten ihr Ergebnis deutlich verbessern. Nach dem Verbot bzw. der Selbstauflösung der großen Anti-System-Oppositionsbewegungen sammeln sich die Systemunzufriedenen um die KPRF. Mit der Partei Neue Menschen zieht eine neue politische Kraft in die Staatsduma ein. Die OSZE hat die Wahlen nicht beobachtet.

September, nahmen die Mitarbeiter der Nationalversammlung und des Senats an einer Diskussion mit Professor Hans Stark, Professor für zeitgenössische deutsche Zivilisation an der Sorbonne und Berater für deutsch-französische Beziehungen am Ifri, teil, die ein Porträt Deutschlands zu den bevorstehenden Bundestagswahlen gab und das deutsche Wahlsystem erklärte. Eine zweite Veranstaltung wird nach den Wahlen stattfinden, um die Ergebnisse zu analysieren.

Angesichts des mangelhaften Corona-Krisenmanagements, wachsender Armut und hoher Inflationsraten liegen die Zustimmungswerte von Jair Bolsonaro gut ein Jahr vor der Präsidentschaftswahl auf dem niedrigsten Niveau seit seiner Amtseinführung. Seit Monaten versucht der Präsident, mit gezielten Sticheleien und Provokationen seine Gegner in Politik und Justiz zu attackieren und seine Anhänger zu mobilisieren. Massendemonstrationen beider Lager, insbesondere am Nationalfeiertag, machen jedoch lediglich die fortschreitende Spaltung des Landes als Folge dieser Politik deutlich und befeuern immer wieder die Debatte um die Wehrhaftigkeit der brasilianischen Demokratie und ihrer Institutionen.

Story, Challenges and Vision of a First Mover

In this article, Dr. Hee Chun Kim looks around the landscape of South Korean telecommunications, in particular focusing on 5G and relevant policies. Considering that South Korea rolled out the first instance of commercial 5G service in the world and showed remarkable growth with regard to the domestic penetration of this technology, he proposes that sharing South Korea’s experience in 5G implementation may benefit relevant policymakers and stakeholders in other nations. He then goes on to discuss current challenges as well as strategies regarding the future use and evolution of 5G in Korea.

The Regional Program Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS PolDiMed) in collaboration with the Middle East Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS), is pleased to announce, on 17 September, the launch of a new study entitled "Maritime Security in the Mediterranean Sea: Deciphering the Security Puzzle". The study will explore the complexity and geopolitical importance of the Mediterranean Sea and shed light on the new rising actors and their impact on Maritime Security.
