Die Regierung Bennett-Lapid: „Koalition des Wandels“ oder politisches Kurzzeitexperiment?

Unmittelbar nach der jüngsten Gaza-Gewalteskalation vom Mai 2021 ist in Israel eine neue Regierung ins Amt gekommen, der Skeptiker keine lange Lebensdauer voraussagen. Es handelt sich um eine Acht-Parteien-Koalition unterschiedlicher politischer Couleur, deren einendes Element zunächst die Bestrebung war, Langzeitpremier Benjamin Netanjahu (dauerhaft) aus dem Amt zu drängen. Nachdem dies zumindest aktuell gelungen ist, gilt es, sich den vordergründigen innen- und außenpolitischen Herausforderungen zu stellen. Wo eigentlich die politisch ruhige See benötigt würde, zeichnen sich nationale und regionale Konflikte ab, die die äußert dünne Regierungsmehrheit von nur einer Stimme gefährden. Es gibt aber auch Anzeichen, die möglicherweise für einen längeren Bestand der Regierung sprechen.

Malaysia: Alte Karten neu gemischt?

Die UMNO ist zurück am Steuer

Malaysias Premierminister Muhyiddin Yassin trat am 16. August 2021 nach nur anderthalb Jahren im Amt zurück. Am 21. August vereidigte König Abdullah Shah, Malaysias konstitutioneller Monarch, den ehemaligen Verteidigungsminister und UMNO-Vizepräsidenten Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob als neunten Premierminister des Landes. Dies stellt den dritten Regierungswechsel in drei Jahren dar und sicherte der erst im März 2018 aus dem Amt gewählten UMNO (United Malays National Organisation) wieder das höchste politische Amt im Land. Die politische Instabilität lähmt Malaysia, und es bleibt abzuwarten, ob die neue Regierung die so dringend nötigen strukturellen Reformen im Land anzugehen weiß.

Migrationskrise an der Grenze von Kolumbien nach Panama

Etwa 15.000 Menschen warten in dem kleinen Ort Necoclí auf kolumbianischem Gebiet darauf, sich über die Grenze nach Panama aufmachen zu können, um von dort weiter in die Zielländer USA und Kanada zu gelangen. Die Situation auf beiden Seiten der Grenze hat sich in den vergangenen Wochen dramatisch zugespitzt. Nun sind die Außenminister mehrerer Länder aktiv geworden, um mittel- und langfristige Lösungen des Migrationsproblems zu finden.
