Die gewaltige Explosion des 4. August 2020, das Parlament und der Untersuchungsrichter – und ein Rechtsstaat, der nicht vorankommt.

Ein Jahr nach der gewaltigen Explosion im Beiruter Hafen, die über 200 Menschen in den Tod riss und tausende Verletzte, sind noch viele Fragen offen. Vergeblich warten Verletzte, Angehörige der Verstorbenen und die gesamte libanesische Bevölkerung auf Antworten. Eine öffentliche Anklage hat es bis heute nicht gegeben. Die Ermittlungen stecken fest. Eines der größten Hindernisse: die Immunität. Es ist eines der vielen Beispiele, welches aufzeigt, warum der Libanon, der sich in einer dramatischen Wirtschafts- und Regierungskrise befindet, gelähmt ist.

KAS Blog: México 2021: realidades y desafíos

El espionaje a activistas, periodistas y políticos a través del software israelí Pegasus ha causado revuelo internacional. México no solo no ha sido la excepción, se encuentra en el centro de la tormenta. Sin embargo, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en el escenario internacional, en donde se presume el posible espionaje a mandatarios extranjeros, en nuestro país este programa fue contratado para espiar a ciudadanos mexicanos. Si bien esto ya se había comunicado hace cuatro años, la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) aún no había dado a conocer los avances en la investigación y hoy se sabe que tampoco ha cancelado el uso de la licencia.

Der Politikwissenschaftler Humberto Dantas präsentiert und erläutert verschiedene Daten bezüglich der Finanzierung von Wahlkampagnen und analysiert verschiedene Aspekte im Zusammenhang mit der Wahlkampffinanzierung in der aktuellen politischen Situation, wobei er die aktuelle Realität des Fonds im Vergleich zu anderen historischen Momenten des brasilianischen politischen Szenarios einordnet.

Volksbefragung in Mexiko

Hintergründe und Einschätzung

Der 1. August 2021 wird ein historischer Tag für die Demokratie in Mexiko. Zum ersten Mal wird der gesetzlich vorgesehene Mechanismus für eine direkte Beteiligung der Bürgerinnen und Bürger zum Einsatz kommen: die Volksbefragung (consulta popular). Doch diese steht in einem historischen und politischen Kontext, den es zu berücksichtigen gilt. Außerdem werfen die Komplexität des Mechanismus und zahlreiche offene Punkte bei der Anwendung Fragen auf, die vor allem aus rechtlicher Perspektive analysiert werden müssen, um die potentiellen Auswirkungen der Befragung einschätzen zu können.

Undoubtedly, sub-Saharan Africa is facing major economic and socio-political challenges.
