Building Momentum in the Decade of Action through Collaboration between Employers and UN Resident Coordinators

A joint Playbook by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the International Organisation of Employers and the United Nations Development Coordination Office

Launched during the 2021 UN Partnership Forum, this joint publication by KAS, IOE and UNDCO aims to fill gaps in understanding and to help UN Resident Coordinators (RCs) and employer organizations find the common language needed for conversations that lead to positive action on the ground by providing a toolkit of guidance and best practice examples.

Albania Has Voted

Prime Minister Edi Rama was confirmed in office – the Democratic Party is returning to parliament – the big loser in this election is the Socialist Movement for Integration.

Last Sunday, just under 3.6 million Albanians were called upon to elect a new parliament, with Prime Minister Edi Rama having been re-elected once again. Contender Lulzim Basha did not succeed in preventing Rama’s third term of office. Having said that, his Democratic Party are returning to parliament following a two-year boycott and have achieved the best result since 2009. Heavy losses were suffered by the Socialist Movement for Integration led by Monika Kryemadhi, however. Whereas election day in itself ran smoothly, the country experienced a somewhat violent end to the election campaign. Moreover, there were severe accusations of election fraud and irregularities before and after the election.

The status of County roads and Early Childhood Development Education in 3 selected wards within the Counties of Siaya, Kisumu and Vihiga

In order to promote meaningful engagement and to help realize participatory governance at the local level, KAS extended the concept of the Community Score Card (CSC) to Kisumu, Siaya and Vihiga Counties where local civil society organizations were engaged in series of trainings that looked into public accountability.

Parlamentsauflösung in der Republik Moldau

Präsidentin Sandu setzt Neuwahl durch

In der Republik Moldau hat Präsidentin Maia Sandu das Parlament aufgelöst und damit den Weg für eine vorgezogene Neuwahl endgültig frei gemacht. Unmittelbar zuvor hatte das Verfassungsgericht einen mit den Stimmen der Partei der Sozialisten und der Shor-Partei zur Verzögerung der Neuwahlen verhängten Notstand für verfassungswidrig erklärt. Damit konnte sich Sandu in einer langen Auseinandersetzung um Neuwahlen schließlich durchsetzen, nachdem ihre Wahl zur Staatspräsidentin im November auch ein Votum für eine grundlegende Veränderung der politischen Verhältnisse dargestellt hatte. Die Parlamentswahl soll am 11.7. stattfinden.
