Der wachsende Einfluss Chinas in Lateinamerika dürfte auch in Zukunft ein Schlüsselthema für beide Seiten sein und bietet zweifelsohne Kooperationspotenzial. Bei Klima- und Umweltfragen könnte Brasilien eine zunehmende Isolation auf dem internationalen Parkett drohen, wenn keine Kompromisse gefunden werden.

Women face a higher risk of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. A recent study by UN Women found that reports of violence against women, and particularly domestic violence, have increased in several countries as security, health, and financial worries create tensions and strains accentuated by the cramped and confined living conditions of lockdown.

Unabhängig davon, wer sich letztlich durchsetzen wird, lässt die „Hängepartie“ aber schon jetzt einige wichtige, zum Teil ernüchternde Aussagen zu.

Auch auf dem internationalen Parkett – insbesondere im Hinblick auf das EU-Mercosul-Handelsabkommen, aber selbst im US-Präsidentschaftswahlkampf – spielt der Erhalt des brasilianischen Regenwalds eine Rolle.
