„Wähle das Land, das Du möchtest“

Plebiszit am 25. Oktober bedeutet Richtungswahl für Chile

Am 25. Oktober 2020 findet in Chile ein Plebiszit über die Ausgestaltung der zukünftigen Verfassung des Landes statt. Unter dem Motto „Stimme ab und wähle das Land, das Du möchtest“ („Vota y elige el país que quieres“) sind rund 14 Millionen Chilenen ab dem 18. Lebensjahr aufgerufen, am kommenden Sonntag von ihrem Stimmrecht Gebrauch zu machen. Ein Jahr nach dem Beginn der Massenproteste vom 18. Oktober 2019 wird damit eine zentrale Forderung der Demonstranten nach einem Verfassungsplebiszit umgesetzt, das das Ende der aktuellen chilenischen Verfassung von 1980 einleiten soll.

Die Lokalwahlen am 25. Oktober 2020 in der Ukraine sind gerade im Kontext der oft als großer Erfolg hervorgehobenen Dezentralisierungsreformen von besonderer Bedeutung. Zudem soll ein neues Wahlsystem Korruption und Nepotismus vorbeugen, die Partei des Präsidenten ringt um ihre Vormachtstellung und mächtige Lokalfürsten müssen sich behaupten.

Nigerias Jugend protestiert gegen Polizeigewalt und für gute Regierungsführung

Am Dienstagabend sollen Sicherheitskräfte das Feuer auf friedliche Demonstranten in Lagos eröffnet haben. Mindestens 12 Menschen sollen gestorben sein. Viele wurden verletzt.

Im bevölkerungsreichsten Land Afrikas wird seit knapp drei Wochen demonstriert. Die Jugend des Landes, die etwa 60% der Bevölkerung ausmacht, geht auf die Straße, um gegen Polizeigewalt, schlechte Regierungsführung und Korruption zu protestieren. Die Dynamik und Vehemenz der Proteste haben die Regierung überrascht. Trotz schneller Zugeständnisse ließen die Proteste nicht nach. Am Dienstagabend sollen Sicherheitskräfte auf friedliche Demonstranten geschossen haben. Mindestens 12 sollen getötet und viele verletzt worden sein.

Yet, little studied, the country is not very visible to research institutions and think tanks due to difficult access to information. Faced with this, the Regional Program Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung decided to open its geographical scope to Sudan and develop more knowledge about this country through this serial publication entitled "Spotlight on Sudan".

Tracking and Analysis of Brazilian environmental and climate policy

In face of the complex system of decisions, changes and actions that the Brazilian environmental policy is currently inserted, it is with great satisfaction that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Brazil announces its support for the "Política por Inteiro" project. "Política por Inteiro" aims to provide a reliable, recurring and comparable data base on public policy signals and propositions in the environmental area in a "friendly" format and with credible data, and that creates a common "memory" about national decisions. Through the monitoring of government actions and rhetoric, systematic analysis of the situation and associated risks and the production and dissemination of information, it is intended to provide a tool to identify signals, interpret trends and consolidate them in an aggregate manner, using data science to inform citizens, advocacy networks and decision makers themselves. Each month an outlook is produced with the signals detected in the monitoring and monthly online events are also carried out to analyze the situation.
