Symposium "300 Years of German-Turkish Friendship, Status and Perspectives" - European and International Cooperation
Seminar
Details
The focus of the event was on the development of German-Turkish relations, from their beginnings to the present day. The seven panels of the symposium covered topics such as economic relations, political, military and cultural relations, academic cooperation, EU Accession negotiations as well as migration and integration.
The presentation and evaluation of the development of German-Turkish relations offered the numerous German and Turkish academics the opportunity to discuss current German-Turkish relations from a personal point of view. The focus of the thematic complex was on the academic perspective, with numerous scientific contributions providing an overview of current political and cultural topics such as “Alternatives to Turkish EU full membership” or “Public perception of Turkey from a German perspective and vice versa”. The symposium facilitated a lively exchange of views, which helped to develop future-oriented solutions for a number of key challenges.
With the realization of this academic symposium, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Turkey made it possible to continue and deepen the bilateral dialogue between Germany and Turkey, thus making a valuable contribution to strengthening the German-Turkish friendship. All participants agreed that more events like these are needed to create a constructive dialogue platform.
