Details
The ageing of society and the exodus of well-educated young people pose major challenges for many regions in Europe. In particular, rural regions that are remote from urban centres and structurally weak regions that find themselves in a so-called "talent development trap" are struggling with the consequences of a shrinking workforce. In response to this, on January 17, 2023, the European Commission released a communication introducing a new EU mechanism to support, retain, and attract skilled professionals in such areas.
On the occasion of the European Day of Demography on February 15th 2023, the Konrad-Adenauer -Stiftung invites you to an expert discussion, titled "Harnessing talent in Europe`s regions: Addressing population aging and decline" with the Vice-President of the European Commission Dubravka Šuica, the Chairman of the the Federal Association of LEADER Action Groups in Germany in Germany Dr. Hartmut Berndt and the Director of the Berlin Institute for Population and Development Catherina Hinz. The closing speech will be given by Ottilie Klein, Member of the German Bundestag.
We will be broadcasting the event live via Zoom.
