The Konrad Adenauer Foundation in the Republic of Moldova, in collaboration with the NGO EcoVisio, is pleased to announce the launch of the Climate Platform in the Republic of Moldova, an initiative aimed at bringing together stakeholders—government institutions, NGOs, international organizations, the private sector, academia, and climate activists—to address the urgent challenges of climate change and adaptation. The platform seeks to stimulate collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and propose sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change in the region.

A Collaborative Approach to Climate Action

The Climate Platform serves as a space where diverse groups can come together to share ideas, pool resources, and collaborate on impactful climate actions.

Key Milestones and Activities

The development of the Climate Platform has been guided by a comprehensive action plan outlining a series of strategic activities designed to ensure its success and sustainability. First, the platform’s objectives were clearly defined in alignment with the broader climate goals of the Republic of Moldova. A stakeholder mapping process was conducted to identify key actors and potential partners, ensuring active participation across sectors.

A central element of the platform’s engagement strategy was the launch of the “Climate Ambassador” program, which aims to empower climate leaders who will advocate for and promote the platform’s mission. To further encourage stakeholder engagement, workshops and online sessions were organized to help participants better understand the platform’s structure and vision.

A core conceptual proposal was developed, describing the platform’s functions and defining the roles of different stakeholders. Climate data integration was facilitated through the creation of a pilot analytical platform using open data to support informed decision-making. Innovation was also actively encouraged.

Strengthening relationships with potential donors remained a priority, ensuring the support necessary for the platform to thrive. A sustainable management model, including a governance structure, was established to guarantee the platform’s long-term viability. To keep the platform responsive and effective, strategies have been regularly adapted based on feedback from stakeholders. Finally, preparations were made for further development, laying the groundwork for expanding the platform’s impact in the coming years, building on the success of the initial pilot initiatives.

Our Vision: Cross-Sector Collaboration for Climate Action

At the core of the platform’s mission lies the objective of fostering collaboration across sectors. We aim to create a coherent, multi-stakeholder approach to climate change. The platform will also establish a formal governance model to ensure its continued success and impact.

The response to the platform’s launch has been overwhelmingly positive. In a recent survey, 61% of respondents expressed strong interest in joining or actively supporting the platform, while another 17% indicated potential engagement once the platform’s objectives and benefits are further clarified.

Through an extensive stakeholder mapping process, 85 entities from various sectors were identified, of which 68 were prioritized for active participation. In addition, the platform’s “Climate Ambassador” program has been conceptualized, targeting a group of influential leaders who will drive climate action at both national and local levels.

Looking Ahead: A Sustainable Future for Moldova

The Climate Platform is committed to promoting visible and measurable climate action in the coming years. Our focus will be on implementing projects that integrate climate topics into national and local policies, engaging members in advocacy and education campaigns, and fostering innovation.

As the platform evolves, we will continue to adapt based on feedback and changing needs, ensuring that it remains responsive and effective. Strong early interest and engagement suggest that the platform has the potential to generate significant impact, particularly at the local level, where smaller actors and activists are eager to collaborate and make a difference.

By bringing together stakeholders from all sectors, the Climate Platform lays the foundation for meaningful and long-lasting climate action in the Republic of Moldova. We look forward to this collaboration in building a more sustainable future for the country and the region.
