The event will bring together women politicians, decision-makers, experts and representatives from the region and Europe, with the aim of advancing the role of women in leadership and strengthening the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
The official opening of the event will take place on 18 April, with addresses by:
Mrs. Zhaklina Peshevska, MP - President of the Women’s Union of VMRO-DPMNE; Vice-Chair of IWDU;
Mr. Daniel Braun, Official representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung;
Mr. Dragan Kovachki, MP - Secretary General of VMRO-DPMNE;
Mrs. Mairead McGuinness, President of EPP Women; former European Commissioner; first Vice-President of the EU Parliament; former MP (Ireland) and a presidential candidate for Ireland (online address);
Mrs. Dolors Montserrat, Member of the European Parliament, EPP Secretary General; former Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality of Spain (online address)
Within the programme, the discussions will be focused on current geopolitical and security challenges and their impact on the process of enlargement of the European Union, with particular attention dedicated to the role of women’s leadership in shaping these processes. At the same time, a broader debate will be opened on energy transition, transport connectivity and their role in accelerating the European integration of the region. Part of the programme will also be dedicated to the importance of women in science, technology and innovation, with a focus on building bridges between the Western Balkans and the European Union in these areas.
Through an interactive format and exchange of experiences, the event aims to contribute to strengthening regional cooperation, supporting European policies and advancing the participation of women in decision-making processes.
