Mit einem Monat Verspätung wählte Senegal am Sonntag, den 24.03.2024, den fünften Präsidenten seit der Unabhängigkeit. Eine schwere innenpolitische Krise hatte das Land über Wochen in Atem gehalten. Auslöser waren die Verschiebung des ursprünglichen Wahltermins durch den Präsidenten sowie Korruptionsvorwürfe gegen führende Repräsentanten der Republik. Die Zivilgesellschaft ging auf die Straße. Der Verfassungsrat erklärte die Verschiebung der Wahlen für nichtig und stellte die Konformität des Wahlverfahrens wieder her. Mit der jetzigen klaren Entscheidung im ersten Wahlgang scheint sogar eine Machtübergabe zum Ende der regulären Amtszeit des am 02.04.2024 scheidenden Präsidenten Macky Sall möglich.

Best Practice Publication

“Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace. Our Diversity - our opportunity”

This “best-practice publication” is part of the EU-funded project “Great Lakes Network for Dialogues and Peace - Our Diversity - Our Opportunity!”. The publication shall act like a platform on which voices from inside of the action are demonstrated. Voices from stakeholders involved in the action are shown in chapter 1. Best-practice cases from the action and recommendations for future actions outlined in chapter 2. Participating youth initiatives were asked to write down their own subjective success stories, a collection of these success stories can be found in chapter 3. Finally, a list of participating youth initiatives can be seen in chapter 4.

KAS Kenia in partnership with UNODC and EACC developed a Public Sector Corruption Risk Assessment Checklist to provide knowledge and information on how to recognize and detect corruption, especially in the allocation / use of public funds. The main objective for this publication is to enhance the target actor’s knowledge and information on how to detect and determine corruption especially in the allocation and use of public funds both at the national and county levels and how to mitigate the risks. The final output would strengthen knowledge and enforce actions to enhance transparency and accountability in budget and procurement implementation phases both at the national and county levels.

Algerien, das größte Land des afrikanischen Kontinents, ist zu mehr als 80 Prozent vom Sand der algerischen Sahara bedeckt. Diese gigantische Wüste ist nicht allein ein natürlicher Lebensraum für Mensch und Tier und eine atemberaubende Landschaft. Sie ist vor allem ein reiches historisches wie kulturelles Vermächtnis Algeriens von großem geologischem Interesse und beherbergt eine der weltweit größten Sammlungen prähistorischer Felskunst. Über 15.000 Zeichnungen und Gravuren aus der Zeit des Neolithikums um 6000 v. Chr. sind ein lebendiges Zeugnis der Klimaveränderungen und des Wandels von Fauna und Flora und der Entwicklung menschlichen Lebens.
