Question (translated from German): “From which media sources do you regularly get your news about political events?” Here: “from public service television”. Figures in per cent. Respondents: 4,004. Survey 1059 on behalf of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e. V.

Gong. “This is First German Television with the Tagesschau.” It could also be “heute”. A majority of those eligible to vote regularly receive political information from public service television. This makes it the most frequently used channel for political information.

Supporters of different political parties follow public service political news to significantly varying degrees. Those who support the CDU/CSU or the SPD are most likely to watch public service broadcasting regularly. Also the majority of Greens and Left Party voters regularly obtain political information from ARD and ZDF. The situation is different for supporters of the BSW and the AfD. Only a third of each group regularly watches political programmes on public service television.
